Doctor y maestro en Ciencias en Ingeniería Eléctrica, opción Telecomunicaciones, por el Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados (Cinvestav) del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) en la unidad Guadalajara. Ingeniero en Electrónica y Comunicaciones por el Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), campus Monterrey.
Se desempeñó como profesor y como coordinador del Departamento de Electrónica en el ITESM, campus Guadalajara, y como profesor de la materia de Diseño Digital para el programa PADTs del Cinvestav. Durante diez años, fue evaluador de becas en General Electric para el Instituto Internacional de Educación para América Latina. Es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, SNI-1.
Durante agosto 2010 a septiembre de 2018 estuvo a cargo de la coordinación de la carrera de Ingeniería Electrónica en el Departamento de Electrónica, Sistemas e Informática de ITESO.
Del 2019 a la fecha, se desempeña como Coordinador de la Especialidad en Diseño de Sistemas en Chip y de la Maestría en Diseño Electrónico.
