Oral & Written Communication (Comunicación Oral y Escrita, COE)
Given the importance of communication processes as an element of a professional's comprehensive training, ITESO includes an Oral & Written Communication (COE) course in every degree's curricular design. This course is only one semester in length and requires each student to take a diagnostic test to be placed in one of the two existing options.

There are two versions of the COE course, each with different ways of developing oral and written communication skills. This offers students the advantage of being placed in the group that best suits their specific needs.
Students are directed to the appropriate course based on the results of their ITESO admissions test (College Board). Those who have not completed one must take a Placement Diagnosis in Spanish as mother tongue, at no cost.
It is not necessary to do more than take the diagnosis. The system automatically provides students with scheduling options so that they may register for COE according to the version that corresponds to each of them.
It is worth reiterating that COE is only taken for one semester, regardless of the group that corresponds to each student.
Advising & Tutoring Program (Programa de Asesorías y Tutorías - PAT)
This is an alternative to improve academic writing and oral performance, or to help resolve any difficulties in these areas. The sessions are personalized and individualized. A tutor guides applicants to develop strategies that allow them to optimize their communication processes.
Tutoring is open to the entire ITESO community and is free of charge.

These consist of the advising and support offered by a COE teacher for another teacher of any subject to plan, design, monitor and evaluate activities about a topic related to oral or written communication, which are required for the contents of the course.
The dynamic is comprised of both teachers meeting to talk about the needs to be met. Based on the aforementioned, the COE teacher attends a class session by the other one to address the planned area, and both work on the corresponding strategies, materials, activities and rubrics.
Topics such as essays, reports, syntheses, presentations, debates, reading strategies, etc. are usually addressed.

Advising and support are offered by COE teachers so that other teachers of different subjects incorporate reading and writing as an element within their course design in order to develop corresponding learning processes in their classes.
Both teachers meet to revise the learning guide and identify how and when the great potential that reading and writing offer as tools to achieve the objectives of the program can be exploited in the most efficient way possible.
