Professor Orozco has a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO), and a Master's Degree in Composite Materials from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London, England.
From 1986 to 1988 he worked as a researcher in the Materials Department of the Electrical Research Institute, and from 1990 to 1992 he was a project leader at the same institution. From 1993 to 2001 he was the research and development manager at Industrial Fundidora Valsi, S.A. de C.V. and Calsi Agrícola Industrial, S.A. de C.V. From 2001 to 2003 he was a process engineer at Sr. Sanmina-SCI (RSP de México, S.A. de C.V.).
He has been a professor at ITESO since 2003. He coordinated the Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering from 2003 to 2011. From 2012 to 2014 he sat on the Academic Council, and from 2009 to 2016 he coordinated the Basic Academic Unit in Transformation Processes. He is currently a professor in the Department of Technological and Industrial Processes, where he teaches courses on transport phenomena, unitary operations, kinetics and reactors, engineering projects and their economic evaluation.
He is a member of the National Association of Chemistry Departments and Schools (ANFEQUI, in its initials in Spanish) and of the International Association of Jesuit Chemistry Schools and Universities. He takes part in projects with the University of Guadalajara (CUCEI and CUCBA), with the Center for Research and Assistance in Technology of the State of Jalisco, with the Mario Molina Center and with the Jesuit University System.
