Professor Arias has a Master's Degree in Nutrition and Food Biotechnology from the University of Jaen, Spain, where she graduated with honors. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmaceutical-Biological Chemistry applied to Food Technology from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, where she also graduated with honors. She has a Specialization in Business Process Improvement from ITESO, as well as Certifications in Quality Control for Food, Wine and Spirits, and in Beer Technology.
She worked in the food industry as the head of quality control and new product development for the company Agro-Industrial Exportadora. She created the Department of New Product Development at Lechera Guadalajara in 1995, where she designed product lines, dairy products, as well as fruit beverages. Since 1999 she has focused on the field of labeling regulations; she has consulted for companies in the food and cosmetics industries on national labeling and exporting regulations, and has taught courses and workshops to update the training of technical and sales personnel.
Her teaching career at the undergraduate level began in 2005 at ITESO, where she taught courses and advised Professional Application Projects (PAP) between 2008 and 2013. She joined the faculty as a full-time teacher in the Department of Technological and Industrial Processes (DPTI) in 2013, teaches undergraduate courses in the Food Engineering program, serves as PAP advisor, and participates in research and partnership projects with funds from the National Science and Technology Council (Conacyt).
